Sketches: The Seven Assassins

Some more studies for The Seven Assassins. It’s going to be an all-silkscreen book – I actually bought this
orange paper years ago, and it’s just been sitting around. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it in time.

  1. Hi Matt! I’m already behind schedule, but I really gotta get something new done. Sorry for the sporadic updates to the blog, I wasn’t sure people were looking at it so I’ve been letting it slide… Gotta get some new paintings done too!

  2. The thing I like about your art is how it looks real good and it took skill to create
. Not just anyone can make what you make.

    • Thanks man. What’s up you’re not updating the Paping blog these days?? I’ve been spending a lot of time on Twitter – you should join the party!

  3. Ha, Shawn, I rarely comment (I’d quickly run out of ways to say “This looks amazing!”) but I check in just about every day. Watching your work unfold, from those very loose pencil roughs to finished paintings is fascinating. And watching as you create these amazing large scale paintings and then jump back into silkscreening comics is truly inspiring.

Alright, enough of the Shawn Cheng love fest. Back to work, you!

    • Thanks Matt. I think I’m gonna switch gears yet again! and pick up on another fallow project. Still gonna try to get The Seven Assassins done for BCGF in November, but just switching up the order of work… I like what you’ve been doing with your blog. The book cover roundups are really great. Your new sketchbook stuff is looking good too, looks like you’ve gotten into a good working groove!
